Review of “Flickriver”

Hi girls

It’s been available a couple of years, but here’s a little gem I would like to share with those that don’t know it:  Flickriver.

You will also see a link in my ‘about me’ section, and depending on the width of your screen, you will also see up to 5 of my ‘most interesting’ photos from Flickr. Apparently the exact photos change every time you view it.

TinaCortina - View my most interesting photos on Flickriver

Try it. What you see above is a link and then a photo montage badge that you can post into a blog, or anywhere…..I have already added it to my ‘about me’ page here and onto ‘my profile page’ on Flickr.

You can also add a button link like this.
TinaCortina's photos on Flickriver

On flickriver itself you can sign in to your own Flickr account and link the two…….

You can watch your own photos (or someone else’s) as a side-show in terms of:

  • When posted (most recent)
  • Most interesting (most views/ and or comments)
  • Or random

I suggest you press select photo size for ‘fit full screen’

  • ….and then hit F11 for full screen viewing without your IE/Mozilla menus  (just click F11 again to get them back)
  • Just hit spacebar to go on to the next photo

So much easier than viewing on Flickr and I like the fact you are seeing the photos as a full page.

It does seems to have quite a lot of good features.

  • If you follow my link and want to see a screenshow of ‘my favourite’ or your own favourite photos,  you can do that
  • Or go to ‘my contacts’ or your own and look at their recent/ best photos

You can search photos,

  • by username,
  • by tag,
  • by group…..

it all seems quite jolly and you get a full screen pic, with a nice neat black background!

So long as you are signed in, if you especially like a pic and want to leave a comment, download etc , you just double-click and you enter Flickr as normal.

Wonderful aid for the vain tranny of course, but also a great way to see other beautiful pics.

Hope you like

hugs TinaCortina xx

  2. Tina,
Thanks for the bloghelp! What I don’t understand and can’t find by googling is that if you want your Flickr pix to go be seen on Flickriver by the unwashed masses, like you don’t care who sees ’em, how does that happen?

I’m not sure I’d want EVERY photo I put up on Flickr to show on Flickriver and the quality of the random shots (least that’s what I THINK I’m seeing) is quite high. Remarkable, actually.

So, how would you go about just putting your best shots there or is someone selecting them?

    • Hi Terry
      Thanks for visiting.

To do it simply go to flickr river with your flickr/yahoo name. It will then ask you if you want to link your flickriver account to flickr.

You have to answer yes or no, you can’t say I only want to allow access to some. On the other hand I don’t know if it access all your photos if they are not set to public view.

Within flickriver itself, you can choose to access Recent, Interesting, Random, Favourites. You can view in your sets. You can see your contacts in this form or pics from your groups.

I’ve visited your Flickr and don’t understand why you don’t want all of your photos to be available, unless you have some not set to public, which I haven’t seen.

I don’t think you can only select your best shots. But anyone viewing can choose to visit the most interesting defined by most views/most comments. I think also that if you as I have done, put a link on flickr profile (as I have also on my wordpress blog), you can link to only your most interesting photos if you wish (I think that is what I did). If they then go on to look at the rest, they can probably do that, but it isn’t that easy.

Once you do link up, if anyone googled terrydarc I think they are as likely to find the flickriver link as the flickr link. You might also just appear on the top page as recent or most interesting etc, but I am not sure you can do anything to help your position.

I like it; just as a different platform to view your pics. f you need any further help, feel free to contact me on tina_cortina at yahoo.co.uk

I enjoyed your pics by the way.

      Hugs Tina x
